Leif Stävmo, former casting world champion and Guideline's head of design for the past 10 years, started fly fishing when he was 13 years old. His collected experience in rod design is second to none. When he decided to create the Reaction Series he put all his experience to the test. After hundreds of rejected blanks, countless hours of testing, numerous sleepless nights and some very sore shoulders, we are proud to present the most advanced rods he has ever designed.

Made in USA – with pride

After two years and the most exciting and challenging effort ever, our Reaction flyrods are on the market.

By being given the privilege of using one of the world’s premier and most advanced rod building facilities, we have merged true American rod building tradition with engineering excellence and Guideline rod action philosophy in the development and creation of these state of the art rods.

Reaction is a modern, yet timeless rod that is more “Stealthy” in the looks. No flashy, glossy paint jobs, no fancy space-age cut out reel seats, no super customized cork grips.. These rods may be a little more subtle in design, but they are equipped with the best cork we could find, the most High-Tec guides and reel seat components from REC and a blank that has been developed and built with well proven manufacturing methods and the very best graphite materials available.

We take advantage of a unique, very advanced reinforcement technology in a very thin special carbon cloth, that ads 10x the strength to a rod blank and also helps in creating a slim-profile ferrule and increased hoop strength. The ferrule areas also integrate a technology that makes the transition points between reinforced areas and the rest of the blank much smoother and without any significant differences in wall thickness. This eliminates many of today’s common ferrule breakages in rods. We use a combination of the very best Japanese and US made graphite cloths from the most well known and respected manufacturers. There are 4 different materials used in the rods, ranging from 35 up to a very high 60 MSI in modulus.

As for the rod actions, we wanted to use some of the best from our very popular Le Cie rods, but go one step further in trying to give them a feeling of being more alive and responding with a more pronounced “sling-shot” effect noticeable in the middle and lower areas of the rod. These rods are not slow, they react fast and very accurate and the tip sections in general are quite powerful, which helps loop control and also enhances the loaded feeling in the lower half of the rod. The tips will also stand up well when pulling both heavy sinking tips and larger flies out of the water for the next cast.

These rods will be easy to get to know. They are forgiving in terms of the casting stroke and they will appeal to a broad majority of intermediate to advanced casters. If high-performing rods with the potential of throwing a long cast whilst maintaining an excellent “harmonic” feeling are your game, then you should give them a try.

Delivery of this item within 2-3 weeks.

MODEL DESCRIPTION

REACTION 904 | 9' | #4 | 4-PCS

A fast, modern action with a light, crisp tip that will set nice, tight loops when you want it to. Responds quickly to any directional change and works equally good with overhead casts as with casts starting from the water. The fine balance and light tip of this rod makes it a joy to fish for hours. A great choice for lighter dryfly- and nymph-fishing.

REACTION 905 | 9' | #5 | 4-PCS

This rod is built for anglers who like to cast a controlled, long line, with accurate stops and a well timed power application. It has been fitted with a small fighting butt, to prepare it for fights with larger fish. You will be positively surprised at the versatility of this rod and it will cover your needs in a broad variety of fishing situations.

REACTION 906 | 9' | #6 | 4-PCS

A powerful, light rod built for distance and controlled casting in larger waters and challenging, windy places like larger lakes or the Scandinavian coastlines, where Seatrout and Sea Mullet are being the popular targets. Mounted with our new Hi-Density EVA fighting butt like the rod above.

REACTION 1006 | 10' | #6 | 4-PCS

A brilliant allround rod with a length that makes it easy to generate good line speed and set tight loops that slice through wind and carry a wide variety of flies. Excellent choice for the coastal areas in Europe or in the seatrout and grilse rivers of Scandinavia, as well as on windy British reservoirs chasing fat rainbows.

REACTION 1007 | 10' | #7 | 4-PCS

A very versatile rod length and weight that suits coast- river- and lake fishermen alike. This rod works excellent with both shooting heads and traditional lines. It will surprise you with its power and performance, even when fishing larger flies or heavy sinking lines. Lines with head weights of around 15-17 grams (230-260 grains) will be a great match with this 10 footer.

REACTION 1008 | 10' | #8 | 4-PCS

Great hand-feel, nice balance, fast recovery and a powerful tip that creates tight loops and lifts heavy rigs out of the water. This rod became the favorite of head designer Leif Stävmo during the long development process. A superb choice for Steelhead, Seatrout and Salmon in small to medium size rivers, but it will also perform flawlessly on large reservoirs or on the coast. Recommended line/head weights: 17-19 grams (265-295 grains).

REACTION 1009 | 10' | #9 | 4-PCS

By request, we decided to include this rod in the line-up. If you are into the largest fish, the bulkiest flies and the full range of sinking lines, this rod is for you. Surprisingly smooth to cast, but holds a lot of hidden power when needed. The great balance and weight distribution makes it easy and comfortable to use during long sessions on the river. Recommended line weight/head weight: 19-21 grams (295-330 grains).

REACTION 13778 | 13'7" | #7/8 | 4-PCS

Twohanded rods in lighter line weights are becoming increasingly popular. This Reaction version has a wonderful, deep, yet quick loading zone, which gives the rod a lot of soul and personality. Very well suited for summer run Steelhead and Salmon, especially when fishing on the surface or in the upper 3 feet of the water level. The length seems to bring out the very best in these rods and make them very versatile and easy to cast also at longer distances. Recommended Head Weights: 23-27 grams (350-415 grains).

REACTION 13789 | 13'7" | #8/9 | 4-PCS

This new rod has the same, slightly deeper action with a remarkable kick, as the rod above. This is very evident and a "trademark" of the Reaction twohand series. A first choice rod length/line weight among many Scandinavian and even more North American Spey fishermen. Works the full range of lines with ease and matches beautifully with head lengths around 11,5 meters (38 feet). Recommended Head Weight: 28-32 grams (430-495 grains).

REACTION 137910 | 13'7" | #9/10 | 4-PCS
Energy and delicacy united! Truly one of the finest casting rods in the Reaction series and maybe the one that have surprised the most fishermen while trying it out during the past year. Light, well balanced and very easy to use, yet charged with unexpected power when you need to drive long casts consistently. A rod length and line weight that would suit as the first choice rod in many European and North American rivers. Match it with Shooting Heads in 12 meters length (39 feet), a 35 lbs Compline shooting line and you are set for some fun times on the river. Recommended Head Weights: 33-37 grams (500-570 grains).

REACTION 148910 | 14'8" | #9/10 | 4-PCS

A very versatile rod for medium to large size rivers. If you favor a longer rod with more reach and control of the swing, this might be your choice. The extra foot is an advantage when you do a lot of wading and fish rivers with space for your casting. These rods are great and will offer you easy D-Loop set up and also the ability to drive a long overhead cast when needed. Can be used both with longer and shorter head lengths. It is your preference that decides. Recommended Head Weights: 33-37 grams (500-570 grains).

REACTION 1481011 | 14'8" | #10/11 | 4-PCS

Possibly the best "long distance" rod we ever built... The reports of all time long casts have kept coming in from all over Europe during this past year of testing and fine tuning it. If you fish large rivers for BIG fish and want a powerful rod that can take on any challenge you throw at it, then this might be your choice. Works excellent with both Super Fast Sinking Heads and long Floaters alike. To tap the full potential of this rod, you should use Shooting Heads 12,5 meters (40 feet)and longer. Recommended Head Weights: 38-42 grams (590-650 grains).
