The Czech junior fly fishing team has two new sponsors this year. The first is our site FlyFishingPoint, and the second the most well-known French fly fishing company Mouches de Charette. Together, these two companies focus on providing the junior team with needed fly fishing equipment and tying materials from the Mouches de Charette (JMC) product line.

“Our aim is to support young competitors and help them obtain quality fly fishing equipment as well as interesting tying materials and accessories. Our joint support includes equipment from the French company Mouches de Charette not only because of their quality but also because this equipment is used by French competitors, which together with the Czechs are at the absolute world peak in competitive fly fishing. Many of the often cutting-edge products from Mouches de Charette are not yet readily available in the Czech market, and will now start to become more familiar to Czech anglers.”

FlyFishingPoint operates the internet portal www.flyfishingpoint.net – an English language website with a comprehensive eShop as well as quality articles, photo galleries, a world-wide database of fly fishing destinations, and other interesting information. FlyFishingPoint also operates the internet shop www.czechnymph.com, in English and Czech versions.

The French company Mouches de Charette (http://www.mouches-de-charett.com) arose in the village of Charette near Lyon in 1987. It was originally a small firm specializing in fly-tying materials. In 1990 the firm was bought by the well-known fly fishing competitor and professional tier Jean-Marc Chignard, and gradually became the largest fly fishing company in France. Today, the Mouches de Charette catalog has more than 5000 items, distributed to more than 800 fishing shops in France as well as to more and more European countries. Products such as the French nymphing rod from JMC and Kamoufil French tippets are already well-established among many nymphing specialists across Europe.

The Czech junior fly fishing team is composed each year according to the official junior rankings from the previous year, such that the first three are nominated automatically and an additional two with input from the trainer (currently Milan Čubík) based on their ongoing performance. Since the 2004 World Junior Championships in Norway, the Czech team has consistently placed among the top three, except for 2008 in Portugal where they placed 6th. The junior category is very fluid because it includes members from just 12 to 19 years old, with the best managing to stay for a few years if they show promise and performance early on. Undoubtedly the most successful junior in Czech history is Luboš Roza, who won two World Junior Champion individual first place titles and one team first place title in 2004 and 2005.
