Czech nymphs
A very good fly of the freshwater shrimp category. Effective all the year round, although the main use is for catching rainbows and especially graylings in autumn, when I put two flies of different sizes on the leader. Fish accept it with confidence, therefore we can use it on hooks 8 – 10 even for grayling.
I cannot imagine my fly box without this shrimp. It can be used for all salmonids as well as for coarse fish all the year round as an all-purpose fly. But I like best to fish for grayling in autumn with it, they are just crazy for it. If tied on big hooks 2 – 6, it is an excellent fly for sea trout.
One of my favourite patterns, which by its colourful appearance does not picture anything, what we come across in nature, but it is very effective in any kind of nymph fishing as a form of sedge larva or shrimp. A fly effective since spring till autumn for trout and grayling, who readily take even big patterns. Its effectivity is given by combination of a colour trigger iwith mother-of pearl tinge.
It imitates all kinds of freely drifting sedge larvae. Very effective for all knds of salmonids, although I personally prefer to use it for grayling - they take even large patterns reliably. With short nymph I put it as the stretcher or middle dropper. With long nymph I use it for long casts with one fly on a long, thin leader (0,12 – 0,10) that enables its diving, because it is not a heavily weighted pattern (the fly must be as thin as possible).
